HSDC will select 4-6 dancers from the EXPLORE and CREATE Summer Intensive programs to join the Company for a World Premiere creation process through a week-long residency during the 2025-2026 Season.
Our EXPLORE Intensive is a four-week program for pre-professional and early-career dancers, ages 18 - 25.

To foster both technical and artistic exploration through our broad curriculum offerings and diverse repertoire.
Program Dates + Schedule
July 7 – August 1, 2025
Classes are from approximately 9am - 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Additional offerings are available on select Saturdays. Dancers must be able to attend all four weeks of the Program.
Program Curriculum
Our EXPLORE program includes a variety of technique classes and chosen electives, including Ballet, Horton, Jazz, Limon, Graham, Counter-technique, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Partnering, Yoga, Pilates, Image Tech, and more! Attendees will learn repertory excerpts taught by company dancers. Group mentoring sessions and educational discussions are also embedded within the program schedule.
Program Structure
Unique to our EXPLORE program, we offer dancers the opportunity to select a technique track, allowing them to mold their Summer Intensive experience. Each week builds upon the latter to enhance technical skills and practice. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from week to week:
Week 1: The focus is heavily on training with a full day of technique and elective classes.
Week 2: Technique and elective training continues with an introduction to HSDC repertoire from current HSDC dancers.
Week 3: Technical training continues. Repertoire rehearsals shift to staging, casting, and refinement of partnering as well as transitions between excerpts.
Week 4: The focus is narrowed further towards HSDC repertory. One class is offered each day, followed by a deep review of HSDC repertory to be presented at the final sharing.
Class sizes in each cohort will be approximately 30 dancers. Dancers will be able to select their preferred track choice. Based on program capacity and the need to distribute dancers amongst three tracks, HSDC will do its best to honor your preferred track choice. Dancers will be assigned repertoire groups as deemed appropriate by the Director of Summer Intensives. An open sharing will be offered at the conclusion of the program.

A 25% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration to secure enrollment in our programs. The total deposit fee will reflect your enrollment and any optional amenities you choose.
Housing
Housing is an optional amenity offered for Summer participants. Hubbard Street provides housing for students, just a short walk from the studios. Suites are air-conditioned, apartment-style housing with a 24-hour security guard. Each suite contains a common living space, kitchen, and shared bathroom. Apartments come with basic dorm-style furnishings. Kitchens are equipped with refrigerators, stove-top oven, and microwave. The cost of housing includes wireless internet, utilities, and free laundry facilities. Meal plans are not offered as part of our EXPLORE Intensive housing package.
Housing is an optional amenity not included in the cost of program tuition. Please note that housing is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. All housing fees are non-refundable.
