Are you an adult intermediate+ dancer age 26-85 looking for a summer intensive experience where you can focus on your dance practice in a community of passionate dance practitioners? Are you a dance educator who would love the time and space to be a student again?

Read on to learn all about our new adult intermediate+ dance intensive/retreat program and apply now to be considered forDance On! 2025.

Dance On! is a new adult summer intensive retreat experience at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago open to dancers ages 26 and up who want to focus on an intermediate+ level movement practice.

For adult dance practitioners, it can be hard to find a rigorous intensive program that matches your availability. And for dance instructors, we know all too well how much energy you give to helping your students achieve a higher level of training and excellence, often at the expense of your own practice. Come and give yourself the gift of a long weekend at Hubbard Street to get back into your instrument and reinvigorate your movement practice!

A variety of contemporary dance techniques and body conditioning will be offered, reflective of the practices of the HSDC main company and its repertoire. Over an intense weekend, students will receive professional level instruction, attention, and feedback and will learn current repertory from HSDC Company members. The program culminates in an informal sharing.

Applications are open now until April 25.

In light of the feedback we received from our inaugural intensive, we have added a 4-day option to dedicate one full day to technique.

OPTION 1 - 4-DAY INTENSIVE

July 10, 2025 – Technique Day (Floorwork, Contemporary, Ballet, Countertechnique)

July 11-13, 2025 – Technique, Hubbard Street repertoire, and choreographic process with a Company Dancer, culminating in an informal showing on July 13.

OPTION 2 – 3-DAY INTENSIVE

July 11-13, 2025 – Technique, Hubbard Street repertoire, and choreographic process with a Company Dancer, culminating in an informal showing on July 13.

FAQ

Dance isn’t just for those under 25 or the pre-professional dancer. Dance is an expressive art form that artists should enjoy throughout their lives in a supportive community. Dance practice is vital and possible for dancing adults interested in continuous learning. At Hubbard Street, we are interested in fostering a community of artists dedicated to dance and creating dance at all ages and stages of life. There’s no better way to teach this philosophy than to live it. Wherever you are in your dance journey, your dance practice should continue, we encourage you to Dance On!
