Manager of Ticketing and Patron Services

Full-time marketing position with world-renowned contemporary dance company based in Chicago. Manage box office operations, sales reporting and front of house staff for self-produced engagements, including but not limited to Harris Theater season; supervise Sales and Ticketing Associate’s management of group sales and telemarketing, work with internal database administrator and external database management service to maintain patron data. Provide support to Director of Marketing Communications and Marketing Manager on related projects as needed.

Outbound Sales Assistant

Be a part of our exciting 2008-09 Anniversary Season! HSDC is looking for intelligent, articulate individuals with a passion for contemporary dance to join our fabulous telemarketing sales team. Ideal candidates will have excellent telephone communication skills and an ability to work well with people. Sales experience is a plus, but not required. Must be available evening hours Tuesday through Thursday. Pay is hourly with commission; training is provided.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Jim Vincent and Executive Director Jason Palmquist, is among the most original forces in contemporary dance. Critically acclaimed for its exuberant, athletic and innovative repertory, HSDC presents performances that inspire, challenge and engage audiences worldwide. Since Lou Conte founded the company in 1977, HSDC has expanded beyond its main company to include Hubbard Street 2, extensive Education & Community Programs, and the Lou Conte Dance Studio.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago offers rich and stimulating internship opportunities for college and graduate students seeking experience in administration, artistic administration, education, development and marketing (Department and Internship Descriptions). HSDC provides interns interested in dance and arts management the experience of working behind the scenes in one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies. Interns have the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge of arts management while working closely with the staff and artists of HSDC.

HSDC Interns are integral members of the organization. Interns receive an e-mail address and extension, and are entrusted with a number of challenging responsibilities. Interns work with HSDC’s administrative and artistic staff to build knowledge, experience, and confidence in arts management. Interns have the opportunity to work at the theater when the company is performing in Chicago’s Harris Theater for Music and Dance, and see company performances. Interns also have the advantage of taking free classes at the Lou Conte Dance Studio.

Lou Conte Dance Studio Work Study Program

Duties include customer services such as checking-in clients, handling payments and maintaining student records, as well as general office work such as answering phones, relaying messages and fielding questions. Provides light administrative support as needed.

Requires excellent organizational and customer services skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment with detailed accuracy and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with agility. Proficiency with standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary. Program participants must be available for one daytime/afternoon shift (9 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1-5 p.m.) and one evening shift (5-9:30 p.m.) Monday-Thursday and work approximately 8.5 hours a week in exchange for unlimited dance classes.
